Kabarnet

Covid-19 is ravaging through schools in an unprecedented manner with the latest casualty being Kabarnet High School. The country is starting to realize the dangers that the virus is posing to the education sector even as the ministry steps up efforts to reopen the schools fully. The government has so far failed to provide the necessary covid-19 protection equipment like masks and sanitizers in schools yet it remains adamant that schools are safe for the full reopening.

Baringo County Commissioner, Henry Wafula confirmed that 38 Students from Kabarnet High School had tested positive for covid-19. The statement was released on 14th November. The students are currently isolated within the school as the ministry of health proceeds with fumigation and taking care of the affected students.

Even as the ministry now promises to kick-off full testing of both staff and students in the school, a lot of loopholes not only in the school but also across schools in the country have now started becoming evident. With the current rate of spike of covid-19 positive students within schools in the past one month, it can only be predicted to get worse if schools fully reopen.
