The Kenya Universities And Colleges Central Placement(KUCCPS) has approved the selection of 74,046 government-sponsored students to join public universities as from September this year.
Speaking during the selection process at a meeting in Nairobi yesterday,CEO John Muraguri said that at least 6,000 more students will be admitted to the 33 public universities and colleges compared to last year.
He added that selected students will be notified of which university they’ll join by way of SMS.
“Selected students will receive text messages indicating which university they will join.”
Male candidates,who have been allocated 56 percent of the slots,had a their cut-off point set at B of 60 points with their female counterparts being placed at B- of 58 points.
Moi University will admit the highest number with 5,825 students followed closely by Kenyatta University at 5,598 and Nairobi University with 5,374.
