In 2014, the government banned the writing of the KCSE exams by students aged below 17 years.
However it is coming to light that about 9789 candidates aged 16 years and below sat the national exams in 2015.
Kisii county recorded the highest number of underage candidates.
This is quite interesting, makes you wonder if the exam board is being lenient on some rules in order to get more students sitting the exams
