1. Plie Squat

This is the reason for the lovely looking backsides that ballet dancers possess; Stand with your legs significantly apart, and then lower your thighs to a position parallel to the ground. You can also make use of dumb bells, by hold onto one with both hands between your legs, and then repeating the exercise.

2. Stationery lunge

Stand straight, feet together and have your hands on your waist. Thereafter, put your best foot forward, (haha, see what I did there?) and raise the other foot’s heel. This puts your weight on the foot that’s forward.

To maintain good form, plant your front foot firmly and make sure that the knee is in line with the ankle. Remember, never should you compromise your form.

3. Hip Raise

Lie face up on the floor with your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Squeeze your glutes (the muscles that make up the butt) and press into your heels to raise your hips until your body forms a straight line from your shoulders to your knees. Pause, and then slowly lower back to the starting position.

4. Dirty Dog

This targets two of the muscles groups in the butt

  • Knees apart and hands in line with your shoulders.
  • Stiffen your abs and relax your abs
  • Slowly draw one knee up and, rotate the hip to bring your leg towards your core, then away.


5. Running Plank

Running PlankApart from the glutes, it works the shoulders, hips and core muscles.

Form: Assume the press up position and keep the core tight. Thereafter, spread the fingers to protect the wrist. Finally, move your right foot forward (as seen above) then back, then your left foot. Make sure that you maintain the form above; if you compromise it your effort would be in vain.

For Best Results

Do a combination of these exercises daily and you will be well on your way to get the best out of your glutes, and also a better shaped booty. Did we mention you’ll look much sexier when you twerk?!
