At least five others are said to have been injured in the ongoing altercation that begun last evening. The police officers had gone to put down the violence which erupted between rival groups that have been campaigning, ahead of the students’ union elections. The elections are slated for October 15th

The administration had barred some students from contesting in the election and this is believed to have spurred the violence.
