Earlier this year, Forbes Magazine declared Cristiano Ronaldo to be the highest paid athlete in the world, having received $88 million over the past year (which translates to Kshs. 8.8 billion). Ronaldo has decided to reinvest close to half of that money into forming a partnership with Pestana Hotels, a partnership that will see him launch the CR7 chain of hotels; it has taken the same name as his successful footwear and fragrance companies.
This is Ronaldo’s biggest venture so fast, and it is expected to pay off handsomely given the popularity of the CR7 brand.
4 hotels will be opened in Madeira, Lisbon (both in Portugal), Madrid and New York.
Ronaldo, who sounded very excited about the project, was quoted as saying ”My job is to play football, but life won’t always be like this. I have to dedicate myself to this new project and I have the best team in the world around me. I am young but I feel very fulfilled so this project is exciting for me. I’m thinking about my future, and my son and my family.”.
