Yet another time of the year when we celebrate #WorldAIDSDay. Do we even know what that really means? Some of us just know that it exists, right? ….And that is has something to do with HIV or AIDS..mostly AIDS.
What is world AIDS day?
#WorldAIDSDay takes place on the 1st December each year. It’s an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness. Founded in 1988, World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day.
Why is it important?
…because it reminds the public and government that HIV has not gone away – there is still a vital need to raise money, increase awareness, fight prejudice and improve education.
So then what can you do?
I say, go all all out in solidarity!Wear an HIV awareness red ribbon on this day, fundraise for the victims, heck speak against stigmatization- yeap, its still exists! You can also host your won event or have a walk and take it to the streets.
