“I fell in love with dancehall music during my days studying at Varsity College in Cape Town. I have been listening to dancehall music since and fell in love with it due to its uniqueness and message. I grew up listening to the music of Anthony B, Assassin, Buju Banton and Capleton,” says South African star Jahzo, who is signed to Rudebwoy Entertainment after dropping his 3rd single “Jah Ah Mi Guide” off the Dutty wine Album.
Khathutshelo Trevor Muambadzi, better known as “Jahzo” born 24th June in
Venda, Limpopo, South Africa fell in love with dancehall music during his varsity
years in Cape Town. In 2006 Jahzo relocated to Johannesburg where he met up with his brother better known as Major. In 2007 they came up with an idea to partner up and +started a recording label called Rudebwoy Entertainment.
In 2008 Jahzo recorded his first dancehall song at Rudebwoy studios which he
featured Major and Selector O’ Jugglin, that’s when Jahzo realised that he could
contribute towards the South African Dancehall Scene.
In 2010 Jahzo started working on his single called Dem ah Fraud which was then
released in 2011. Dem ah Fraud was well received and played on local radio
stations such as Phalaphala FM and YFM. A music video for Dem ah Fraud was
shot in 2012 and was released in 2013.
In 2014 and 2015 Jahzo released his next singles called ‘Step weh from bottom’,
‘Burn Dem’, which were both produced by Flyweh records in Cape Town.
In 2016 Jahzo released a single called ‘Where mi come from’ and was aired by radio
stations such as Phalaphala Fm, Yfm and Tshwane Fm. The song was well received
and a music video was shot and released in 2016.
In 2017 Jahzo worked on his next single called African Queen where he featured a
Ghanaian artist called June Hype, The song was well received locally and
Jahzo and his manager Major flew to Ghana during the summer of 2017 to shoot
‘African Queen’ music video. The video was directed by Ghana’s best director ‘Kofi
Awuah’ and for the 1st time his video made it to big platforms such as reggaeville in
UK and Channel O.
In 2018, Jahzo released a single called Kuff Dem featuring Bun Pot and Muzzla
Kartel. The song was on high rotation on Yfm and many other radio stations. A
music video was shot in the township of Alexandra, the idea being to portray the
ghetto livity. The video was well received and made it to platforms such as
reggaeville and Channel O.
In 2018, Jahzo released a 17 track EP called ‘The Intro’ which is still available for
free download on his website Jahzomusic.com.
On 24th January, Jahzo released his Debut Album “Dutty Wine”
