Empire Season 1If your DVD supplier hasn’t hooked you up already, get another dealer! This has got to be one of the hottest TV series of 2015, and we’re only in March!

By successfully catering to lovers of drama and musicals, Empire has taken over television by storm in 2015. The FOX series has racked up a record viewership in the month of February for any new series, and has surpassed Scandal as the number one series on social media.

Empire PosterThe drama stars Lucious Lyon, the founder and CEO of Empire Entertainment. Empire is a Hip Hop company that is about to be a publicly traded company in the New York Stock Exchange. The series centers on Lucious and his family with his strong willed ex-wife Cookie: Business minded Andre (who is also the CFO of Empire), Shy and talented Jamal, (who is gay), and arrogant but equally talented Hakeem (who is Lucious’ favourite). It also stars Anika, Lucious fiancée with whom Cookie shares a riveting dislike.Empire Poster 2The series has several themes, which include: Music, Family wrangles, Cut throat business practices, overcoming of homophobia (that agenda is clear as day in the series), and so on. The beautiful relationship between Jamal and Hakeem, the ruthlessness of the Music business and the hidden feelings between Lucious and Cookie are the highlights of the TV show. It is rightfully deserving of the title Hottest TV series of the season, as it will keep you thrilled for the entire 40 minutes of an episode. If you love drama and music in equal measure, Empire is the series for you. Go catch it on FOX television and on DVD as well. Be careful not to get hooked!
