FIFA President Gianni Infantino proposed the idea that the World Cup should be expanded from the normal 32 team structure to a new 48 team structure.
In this structure, 16 teams would go home after playing one game, leaving 32 teams to compete.
Not as complicated as it sounds, huh?
Such changes are not new in football; the Euro 2016 competition saw an expansion from 16 teams to 24 teams.
However, this change seems to have been met with some skepticism; Joachim Low, Germany coach, seems to think that the current structure is ideal and excellent, seeing no need for change.
What do you think of the idea? To ambitious for a man in his first year in charge of football, or is he onto something?
