iQru is all about making stars, winners and world beaters on all fronts. One of our own, Okumba Okumba, is battling out for a political seat in the 8/8 General Election. If you’ve been an ardent follower of all Insyder events, then this name is not new to you.

Okumba is running for an MCA seat in Pumwani Ward found in Kamukunji Constituency as an independent candidate. Pumwani Ward is the third largest ward in Kenya and Okumba, turning 25 this year, will have an uphill task in trying to change the livelihoods of other youth, kids and the old. So, what inspired him to go for the seat?

“The calling came about when we were praying for the elections and for this nation as a fellowship under Kingdom Business Solution where Pastor Angie Murenga; my Spiritual Father is the leader and vision bearer of this ministry. Thus far, she has walked with me, encouraged me and more importantly prayed with and for me to represent God’s work with the excellence it deserves,” he says before adding, “The political culture is basically corrupt, but you don’t have to be part of that culture. Change the atmosphere. Be an atmosphere changer.”

Okumba was part of the amazing iQru team till early this year when he decided to take on the new challenge. If successful, which we pray and hope for, he will be one of the youngest MCAs and with his great vision and plans (as he has illustrated in his manifesto which you can find here), we cheer him on.

In the words of mahatma Gandhi, Be the change that you want to see in the world. All the best Okumba.
