Gor Mahia signs new mega deal

SportPesa are the new sponsors for Kenya Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia FC after signing a five year sponsorship deal.

The betting firm however called on K’Ogalo to stamp out hooliganism warned of dire consequences should the club fail to get it under control.

In a statement read out by Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier, said the sponsors have issued a stern warning for the club to eradicate hooliganism and avoid street sideshows that interfere with innocent wananchi like throwing stones and harassing people or else they will pull out.

‘We must be very careful this time. Nothing good comes on an easy platter. They have warned us to eradicate hooliganism and avoid street side shows like throwing stones and harassing innocent motorists. Nobody wants to associate led on K’with violence,” noted Rachier.

The prominent Nairobi City lawyer said the club will manage their replica with one brand in circulation. He warned the club will have their “special watchdogs” that will monitor fraudsters selling fake replicas to innocent fans and stakeholders.

He disclosed that the club lost only four players and recruited 11 new signings to beef up the squad.

Those who left the club after their contracts expired included Michael Olunga who is heading to Sweden, Simon Pierre, Meddie Kagere and substitute goalkeeper David Juma.

New signings are Robert Onyango from Laiser Hill Academy, goalkeeper Gradus Ochieng, James Ogada(Agro Chemical), Sammy Okinda(KCB), Edmond Murai(Muhoroni Youth) and former AFC Leopards duo of Jacob Keli and Jackson Saleh.

Other new arrivals include Eric “Marcelo” Ouma from Kakamega’s Green Commandoes, Francis “Katchi” Kahata, Rwanda’s import Jack Tuyisenge, and former KCB defender Luke Ochieng.
