Laiser Hill Academy will not take part in the 2017 East African School games set for August in Uganda after being disqualified, this is according
to a release by Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA).
According to some sources Laiser Hill 15s Rugby team is locked out due to age cheating during nationals finals held recently in Nairobi.
Reports indicate that Laiser fielded over-age players which has led to a ban. If the ban is fully confirmed they will stay out of school rugby for two years. Laiser Hill lost 18-14 to Kakamega High in the final played at Nairobi School in April.
The over-age issue was raised by Nairobi School aka Patch earlier in the competition before it was forwarded to the Fred Matiang’i led Ministry of Education who are understood to have finally arrived at the decision to ban Laiser Hill.
Their place is taken by St.Mary’s Yala who finished fourth. No official from either KSSSA or Laiser Hill Academy could be quoted.
Champions Kakamega High and Upper Hill School who finished third are the other schools to represent Kenya.
In Sevens category, Kenya will be represented by Menengai High, Chavakali Boys and Muhuri Muchiri High School.
