Today a seriously melancholic mood engulfed Nairobi Baptist Church. This morning, a requiem mass was held for the late Janet Kanini Ikua. Hundreds of mourners attended the service with some of them being celebrities.
The ushers for the sad event were Janet’s classmates at Precious Blood Riruta, Class of ’95…
It seems the colour of the day was yellow as flowers placed on the coffin were bright yellow and white with a studding photo of Janet mounted next to her remains.
In an emotional eulogy, Janet’s husband narrated how he met and fell in love with the beautiful mother of two.
How can anyone look so beautiful wrapped in a bomber jacket 5 times your size,
Ikua went on to say how nervous they were during their first date, which was actually a romantic walk.
The two met 14 years ago and their love blossomed into a beautiful marriage and they were blessed with two beautiful children. He went on to speak about the love of his life.

I know your mother is reading this but bless her for creating such a beautiful woman with legs of a goddess,” he teases.
All his faults he says meant nothing to Janet and just like everything else in life she saw only the good in him and their life together.
It was certainly a befitting send of for a beautiful angel who touched the hearts of many Kenyans with her relentless fight towards cancer, her work on earth is done, but her spirit lives on. Check out photos of the memorial below.
