Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has put The Star on blast after an article revealing 20 MPs flying to Russia to enjoy the World Cup was published. The Senator was one of them but had to cancel his arrangements to attend to the city issues.

“I cancelled my travel so as to focus in the issues of Gikomba, Nyamakima and Kamkunji traders who rioted last week as well as the Solai issue,” Sakaja responded in one of the text messages.

He put this up via his Twitter handle exposing text messages of what seems to be a curious journalist inquiring of the benefits of the trip to Kenyans.

Sakaja’s captioned it, ‘when you don’t allow facts to get in the way of a good story. ‘ suggesting that the local newspaper leave his name out of the issue.

Following the complaint, the newspaper was quick to correct their story.

“Senators were ti be led by Johnson Sakaja (Nairobi) but he cancelled his travel to deal with other issues affecting Nairobi,” the newspaper corrected.
