Kenyans of late have been treated to outrageous county purchases that have left most of us in surprise and some in disgust. So we had 10 wheelbarrows costing 109,000 each,at least according to by Bungoma county government. We were then treated to the purchase of Ksh 7 Million worth of curtains by the Meru county government.
To top it up Kirinyaga county government spent a whole 2 Million shillings just to open a Facebook page, and now Kajiado county government has bought personal phones for it’s county executives totaling to Ksh 2.5million.
Senate watchdog committee recently questioned Kajiado Governor David Nkedianye over an expenditure of Sh2.5 million to buy smart phones. In his report for the county executive expenditure, Auditor General Edward Ouko noted that the smart phones were bought at varying prices, raising doubts about their actual costs. Some of the phones were bought for Sh90,000 each while others cost Sh80,000.
