Death is the last chapter in time, but the first chapter in eternity. It leaves a heartache that no one can heal and deprives us of more memories that love brings that no one can steal.
The country woke up to shocking news on Sunday that one of the net leaders in the business community had passed away.
Tecra Karanja, who was a heiress to the famed Keroche Breweries had breathed her last. The late Terca, who at the time of her death was the Strategy and Innovation Director at Keroche Breweries, passed on Saturday, 2nd May. She was the daughter of Keroche Breweries CEO Tabitha Karanja, Chairman Joseph Karanja and a sister to Anerlisa Muigai.
Announcing the death through a statement to the media, the company informed Kenyans of the passing away of a trailblazer in the business sector and requested for respects from Kenyans as they made preparations for the final sendoff. “As we begin preparation for her final sendoff, we ask for respect and privacy during these difficult times,” read part of the statement. Immediately after the news broke, Kenyans from all walks of life took to social media to pass their sincerest condolences to the family of the departed.
In an Instagram post about two month ago, Anerlisa posted a photo of the two of them and revealed how Tecra was a private person. ” My sister is so cold towards me. When we walk together then she sees a lot of people, she always leaves me like somebody she doesn’t know she also introduces me as her friend. Lol, the worst is when she denies me. She hates the spotlight and that is why I don’t post her on my page even if it’s a family photo,” read her caption.
Two days after her sudden death, reports came in that homicide detectives had launched investigations into the death. This came after it was established that Tecra fell from the stairs at a private cottage in Shella, Lamu island. It has been reported that she was staying with her boyfriend Omar Lali, who is in police custody and helping out with the investigations into the fatal fall.

According to numerous reports, Lali had given contradicting information to DCI detectives prompting enhanced investigation. It is understood that Tecra arrived in Lamu in early April and went to stay with Mr. Lali. After the fall, Tecra was taken to a local dispensary before being airlifted to Nairobi for treatment. The late Tecra Karanja was set to undergo brain surgery to treat cerebral-edema that occurred after the tragic fall. However she passed on before the surgery could be done.
Prayers and fond memories are what we have to remember our dearly departed. Remembering her wonderful and gentle soul will forever remain in our hearts.
