Kenyan’s favorite boy band are celebrating their  10 year music anniversary. The band consists of  Bien-Aime Baraza, Willis Austin Chimano, Polycarp Otieno, Savara Mudigi. They released their first album, ‘Mwanzo” on December 2008. They began as friends in high school making music just for fun. Little did they know that they would later be a multi-award winning afropop group. They took Kenyan music to another level. Setting trends for other upcoming artists.

Their fans felt their music changed for the best after the release of “Live and Die in Africa” album. The controversial song, “Nishike” brought the spot light to the boy band. They dared to bring out sexuality in the open. Something Kenyans tend to shy away from. This cost them a lot but they were unapologetic. Bad publicity is good publicity! The band got to perform at The Global Citizen Festival on 26th September 2015 in New York City, USA. They performed along side big artists including Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, Arianna Grande and Coldplay.

Sauti Sol has won so many awards that we can hardly keep up. But the major awards include: MTV MAMA, AFRIMMA, Soundcity MVP for Best Group, HiPiPo Awards 2017 for ‘Song of the Year’ and East Africa Super Hit for ‘Unconditionally Bae’ with Ali Kiba.

Sauti Sol has taught Kenyans and especially the younger generation to always have patience and to trust the process. Most importantly to stay in school! Their determination is one thing to emulate.
