Local betting giant Sportpesa will withdraw all the sponsorships it’s offering locally as from next year. This is according to the firm’s CEO Captain Ronald Karauri. He was speaking earlier today at the Intercontinental Hotel where The Association of Gaming Operators held a meeting.

This is as a result of the recent Financial Bill that was signed into law recently that seeks to tax the gaming and betting firms more than before. He stated that they will be releasing notices to all clubs and unions it’s sponsoring in Kenya to plan ‘accordingly’.

Some of the clubs and unions in Kenya sponsored by Sportpesa include;

1. Kenya Premier League (known as the Sportpesa Premier League)

2. Gor Mahia

3. AFC Leopards

4. National Super League side Nakuru All Stars.

How will this end?
