A dormitory of St. Mary’s Yala High School went up in flames last night at 9 pm as students were attending their evening preps. The school’s principal Mr. Bonventure Olando told the nation that efforts to rescue the students’ belongings hit a wall since the fire was massive.
The school’s Kizito dorm with a capacity of 100 beds went up in smoke, with the students’ clothes, shoes and other belongings worth millions.
This comes amid lengthy peace and calm after a series of school fires experienced in the country last year. The school administration has assured parents not to panic as all their sons are safe, and a probe has been launched to unravel the cause of the fire.
