A recent exercise conducted by the Zimbabwe’s oldest university showed that 47 percent of students who underwent testing and counselling tested HIV positive.
Nearly half the University of Zimbabwe students who recently underwent voluntary HIV testing were positive, prompting the institution to limit inter-residence visits between male and females.
This is a sad reality seeing that this is the future generation of the country. African homes need to talk more about sex and sexual matters. It is not enough to simply tell your kids not to have sex. They are having sex. It is up to parents, teachers and the community as a whole to be open to the youth and encourage the safe sex.
