The makers of ‘Queen of Katwe’ must be scratching their heads right now. This is after top Tanzanian music producer P-Funk Majani sued them for using his creation in the movie. According to Bongo5, the producer decided to sue them after it his communication to Chameleone requeting for explanation attracted no feedback.

According to screenshots of communication P-Funk shared with the source, Chameleone said that he had been paid $2,000 but Majani says it would be more, even $50,000. The song “Bomboclat”, done in 2006 by Jose Chameleone and Weasel, but originally the beat had been used by Proffesor Jay and Ferooz in Nikusaidieje. However, the composition and copyright belonged to Majani.

The communication involves evidences that he had tried to seek clarification from Chameleone himself, before going to the authorities.
