Gone are the days when every young child wanted to become a doctor, pilot or lawyer. Times have changed and it seems that the arts and entertainment industry is where most young people are having their eye on.
Kenyan entertainment industry has been quite vibrant over the last decade. The industry has seen both old musicians and deejays making a come back as well as new upcoming artistes being discovered.
Meet Joseph Mwenda AKA DJ Joe Mfalme. Born on the 9th of December 1987. His interest in Deejaying begun at an early age of 13yrs old while listening to some of Kenya’s pioneer DJ’s and in particular interest was the veteran, DJ Pinye. Joe also spent a lot of his free time listening to DJ Jazzy Jeff’s mix tapes and trying to replicate what he did on the wheels of steel before adapting to his own feel and sound.
DJ Joe is known for his itchy fingers, eclectic flavor and flare for the latest music. However, he would never shy away at playing what the crowd wants to hear; anything to keep the party going and the reveler on the dance floor or the listeners tuned in.
DJ Joe has a number of Shows on 98.4 Capital FM in Kenya and can also be found playing at a number of clubs across the country.
He is a mix master by profession and is without a doubt one of the best deejays in the country as well as one of Africa’s most sought after Deejay. He happens to be a party animals magnet.
His favourite genres of music are Ragga, Dancehall, Crunk and Ol’Skul hip Hop. This has made him a versatile and all rounded DJ who can play for different ages, occasions and backgrounds.
If there is ever a good started from the bottom story, then DJ Joe Mfalme’s is up there with the rest.
With the growing global interest in African music and trendsetting beats, ‘Afro beat’ will certainly be a powerful medium to showcase some of the continents hottest new and old acts.
In a given short period of time, Joe Mfalme has established himself in the entertainment industry and racked up a number of achievements and credits.
He’s great at what he does, and he knows it – but he doesn’t act like he does. Greats who are humble are few and far between, and we have to give it up to this guy for being the DJ everyone wants to be but being extraordinarily polite about it.
He is surely an inspiration in the industry five years from now he will be one of the superstar DJs across the continent…better watch this space
He has proved himself repeatedly on the wheels of steel.
