It has been rumored that the dynamic One Direction will be reuniting in honor of their 10-year anniversary. Coming roughly 6 years after they began their hiatus as a group, the band is coming back together to celebrate. However, it will not be business as usual as one important figure is not likely to be included in the event: yep, Zayn Malik won’t be present.
After being the one to spill out the group’s plans to celebrate the historic occasion in pop culture, Liam Payne once again let loose what’s going on in relation to the band.
Liam revealed that the famed band members have been in contact regarding a reunion and that they were attempting to connect via a group FaceTime. He also revealed that Zayn will not be taking in what the group was planning. Liam told DJ Alesso that he could, “fill in for Zayn. Join the band.”
He also revealed that his bandmate Louis Tomlinson wasn’t too delighted about him discussing the potential reunion. “I can’t say too much. Louis told me off for revealing a bit about our plans the other day. So I had a group telling off on the group chat,” he said.
Things have been icy between Zayn and the guys after he ditched the group in 2015. Even with fans believing in reconciliation after his former bandmates re-followed him on Twitter, the latest digest suggest that wounds are yet to heal. In 2018, Zayn revealed that the relationship had “broken apart’ and that he hadn’t spoken to any of them for a while. Talking to British Vogue then, he said, “I haven’t spoken to any of them for a long time, to be honest with you. That’s just the way it is. There are things that happen and things that were said after I left. Snide things. Small things that I would never have expected.”

Even as a reunification between Zayn and the guys seem a distant wish, we hope time will heal all wounds. As we wait for it to happen, we are all eager to know what the band is planning. With all that is going on in relation to Covid-19, the 10 year reunion of the 1D couldn’t have come soon enough.
